Urban agriculture has been forging connections between rural and urban areas for decades now, with success in providing affordable food or filling niche produce markets. However, connections between resources, knowledge, and implementation remain individualized throughout the cityscape. The Food Hub at Ontario Place seeks to demonstrate, educate, and inspire circular urban agriculture through multiple forms of growing strategies that help one another thrive. By creating a resource system through vertical farming, greenhouse growing, field horticulture, and the environment, The Food Hub can provide sustainable and affordable food grown near people who need it most as well as contribute to urban rewilding and food education.Connecting Fruitful Futures puts native Ontario berries at the forefront of food production and landscaping; showcasing berrie’s diverse presence through Ontario lands and cultures. If we can reconnect our food, environment, and health then it will be a very fruitful future.
